Vietnam Banking Report 2024:Q3 - Part 1 | Macroeconomic Overview: Resilient Growth in A Turbulent World

In the third quarter of 2024, despite facing multiple challenges and fluctuations, the global economy exhibited numerous positive recovery signals, evidenced by steady growth in services and international trade sectors. Major economic powers, notably the United States and European Union, demonstrated improvements in consumer spending and public confidence, notwithstanding persistent manufacturing sector challenges. Global inflation maintained its downward trajectory, contributing to overall price stability across commodities.

Vietnam's economy similarly achieved remarkable outcomes during this period. Specifically, GDP growth remained stable, inflation stayed within manageable parameters, and import-export activities continued to demonstrate robust expansion. FDI recorded its highest level in five years, underscoring Vietnam's enduring appeal as an investment destination. The State Bank of Vietnam  implemented flexible monetary policies, incorporating measures to support enterprises, stabilize interest rates, maintain exchange rate equilibrium, and regulate foreign currency markets, thereby ensuring liquidity and fostering economic growth.

Looking ahead to the final months of 2024, while Vietnam's economic outlook remains predominantly positive, potential challenges may arise from emerging international developments and fluctuating domestic demand. Consequently, the SBV must maintain its adaptive policy stance to address potential instabilities while strengthening support mechanisms for businesses and citizens, particularly given the pressures from natural disasters and exchange rate volatility.
