Fundraising journey for Vietnamese startups – a founder’s perspective
As part of the “Guest speaker Series” designed for students under the Startup Financing course, on April 5, 2026, the Department of Corporate Finance – Faculty of Finance successfully organized an online talk titled “Fundraising Journey for Vietnamese Startups – A Founder’s Perspective” for students enrolled in the course.
The event aimed to provide students with practical insights into how Vietnamese startups raise capital, thereby complementing the theoretical knowledge covered in class. It also created an opportunity for students to engage directly with the speaker, ask questions, and gain firsthand perspectives from a founder actively operating in today’s startup ecosystem.
The talk was honored to welcome Mr. Nguyen Van Cuong – Founder of C-Brewmaster, one of Vietnam’s craft beer brands. With years of experience in business and entrepreneurship, Mr. Cuong shared valuable insights from the perspective of a business operator.
During his presentation, the speaker provided practical experiences on the fundraising journey, highlighting both opportunities and real challenges that startups face. Notably, his candid sharing of failed deals offered students an honest, realistic, and highly valuable perspective—something not all entrepreneurs are willing to discuss openly.
The session delivered meaningful value, helping students gain a deeper understanding of real-world fundraising practices, enhance their ability to apply theoretical knowledge to the Vietnamese startup landscape, and broaden their career perspectives in startup finance and investment funds.
